Word for 2026

I’m sorry it has been so long between blogs. I will try to improve on that in 2026.  That being said, I see next year as being a year to proceed forward with alacrity!  2025 set the ignition switch.  We moved from park(or even reverse for some churches) to drive.  This Thanksgiving through Christmas, God will be releasing the emergency brake. You may not have been aware that your emergency brake was engaged.  You may not have been aware that God would actually stop you like that. He does it for our good, not to hold us back or keep us running in place.

I apologize. I used a 10 cent word earlier and you may need a definition.  According to Merriam-Webster, alacrity means “cheerful readiness.”  That is a great descriptor for the American Church-at least it used to be.  I wonder if the average American sees the Church as “cheerful” or even “ready”.  The Bible uses both words to describe the people of God(cheerful giver and ready with an answer).

Alas, fear not! In 2026, Yeshua HaMashiach will engage with His Church in ways we won’t see coming. And the end result will be a Cheerful Ready Church! The Church on the Move with Alacrity!

We will be moving into a true Kingdom walk and we won’t know how we got there!  The Ways and Means Committee in Heaven, AKA the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, enjoys its right to remain silent.  As Bishop Joe Garlington likes to say, “Get the HOW out of here!” Just be ready to floor it when Holy Spirit says “Go!”

Oh, there is no speed limit in the Kingdom of God.  We flow with the Wind wherever He blows. Since He is steering, accidents do not happen. You might bald some tires though!  And you know God likes cars, cause in the Upper Room the disciples were together with one Accord!(Acts 2:1) Just don’t ask me how they got it up there!

I was in the Air Force from 83-87 when I bought my first car. Back then, especially around military bases, muscle cars were plentiful and cheap. A guy was selling his 1973 Pontiac Firebird, red with a white top, and the engine was a 350. It was immaculate and only $1100 in 1984. Yes indeed, it could get up and go! Well, one day I was at a Circle K getting fuel(leaded) when a stranger walked up to me.  This was my first time away from home and my first time in a big city. I think the guy was counting on that. He flashed me a wad of cash and asked for a ride “just down the road.” I was already on guard and my first thought was “if it’s just down the road, why do you need a ride.” I said “No.” He offered to pay me and showed me the wad of dough once more. I said “No”. He got pushy so I finished up and got in the car.  He wasn’t happy.

My Holy Spirit Spidey Sense was going off from the moment I saw him. God showed me a scene containing a small warehouse, a bunch of guys, and cars.  This guy’s job was to lure me in so they could get my car. And no doubt would have wanted to hurt me. Since I paid attention to God, He saved me from harm.

And driving away was His answer.  2026 will be full of Holy Spirit Spidey Sense moments but not necessarily for our protection. They will happen in order to get us some momentum and to get us to the people who need us.  I don’t think it will be a “business as usual” year for the Church.  We may never have one of those years again.  Christians who are not Laid-Down Lovers(thank you Rick Pino for that phrase) will probably get run over.  I told the flock last Sunday that Jesus is The King and He doesn’t want our consultation.

He wants our obedience and it is for our own GOOD!

TTFN.
